Tracking the Wild Road Trip - Toyota Fortuner

Excitement levels at Tracking the Wild HQ have reached fever pitch today. Tomorrow we set off on our month-long road trip through South Africa, Namibia and Botswana and we are literally counting the minutes! Our journey is going to take us some 8000 kilometers through a number of Southern Africa’s most amazing wilderness areas when, fingers crossed, game viewing is at its prime. We are doing our bit to contribute to conservation and will be logging all of our sightings on Tracking the Wild so make sure you stay tuned to our app or website. Make sure that you have the latest versions of our apps here – Android and iPhone. We'll also be posting stories, photos and updates from our travels on our social media: Facebook, Google+, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram

So, here’s our trip in a nutshell:

  • - 32 days
  • - 3 countries
  • - 11 destinations
  • - 8000+ kilometers
  • - ?? wildlife sightings

A big thank you must go to our sponsors. We are thrilled that you are part of our trip and we are so looking forward to testing out the amazing gear that you have lent to us!

Bushwakka Adventure Trailers

 Bushwakka Sundowner 4x4 Trailer

Based in Worcester in the Western Cape, Bushwakka build the lightest, the toughest and the best off-road camping trailers in South Africa, and we are lucky enough to be testing out one of their newest releases –  the Sundowner. This 2-person off-road caravan is equipped with everything you could possibly want, including an outdoor hot shower! We are looking forward to putting it through it’s paces on our trip.

Tamron South Africa

Tamron has been one of the leading Japanese manufacturers of high-quality optics for 60 years. Their high-power lenses are widely respected and we’ve got four of them to try on our trip!

  1. SP150-600mm f5/6.3 Di VC USD
  2. SP15-30mm f2.8 Di VC USD
  3. SP70-200mm f2.8 Di VC USD
  4. SP90mm f2.8 Macro Di VC USD

With a plethora of great photo opportunities, from wildlife to landscapes, and not forgetting John’s new favourite hobby – timelapses – we are sure these lenses will help us to create some amazing images.

Bye for now...
